EQUIPMENT & PPE LIST FOR BASIC CHAINSAW TRAINING

Personal Protective Equipment:

 

  1. Bucking Helmet: Orange coloured, with mesh face shield / visor and hearing protection with Noise Reduction Rated ear muffs (NRR24) or greater. Neck tarps recommended
  2. Safety Vest with 775sq cm reflective tape front and back
  3. Basic workwear: Gloves, CSA steel toed boots, outdoor clothes for current weather conditions
  4. Bucking pants/chaps rated minimum 3600TCS, Visible label, full wrap calf protection, no damage. (For bucking pants users suspenders are highly recommended)
  5. Safety glasses: If candidate wears eye glasses side shields are required
  6. First Aid kit P-Style: (Personal First Aid kit)
  7. Whistle

Chainsaws & Other Equipment:

 

  1. Chainsaw: All professional chainsaws are welcome, however the recommended chainsaw is 65-75cc, 24” bar and chain, Falling Dogs (For Intermediate and Advanced Full Wrap Handles are highly recommended)
  2. Axe: (17” handle, 3.5lb axe head, pinned)
  3. Wedges: (3 wedges minimum)
  4. Fallers Belt: (wedge pouch, axe cover)
  5. Basic tools: bar wrench, screwdriver, round file
* Instructors carry extra PPE, chainsaws and other equipment; if missing any items contact ahead of the training to ensure everyone is equipped
